Thermosetting
Phenolic materials are thermosetting.
Phenolic plastic, also known as bakelite, is a hard and brittle thermosetting plastic. It is based on phenolic resin and is formed into products through a cross-linking curing process. It has the characteristics of being insoluble and infusible, that is, it cannot be melted or softened again after curing. This characteristic of phenolic plastic makes it widely used in electrical insulation materials, furniture parts, daily necessities, handicrafts, etc. In addition, phenolic plastic also has the characteristics of high mechanical strength, toughness and wear resistance, dimensional stability, corrosion resistance, and excellent electrical insulation performance. It is particularly suitable for making insulating components of electrical appliances and instruments, and can also be used under hot and humid conditions.
